～浮世の悩みから解き放たれる、桜とインコが舞う理想郷～
パークホテル東京（運営：株式会社芝パークホテル／東京都港区、代表取締役社長 柳瀬連太郎）は、アーティストが客室の壁に直接絵を描くユニークな「アーティストルーム」の50作目となる「ユートピア イン ジャパン」を本日、2025年10月21日（火）より販売開始いたします。
50作目となるアーティストルーム「ユートピア イン ジャパン」は、画家・中内渚と造形作家・川上和歌子による初の合作です。客室の扉を開けた瞬間、目に飛び込んでくるのは、天井まで届くような満開の八重桜と、部屋中を自由に飛び回るインコたち。まるで春の空に包まれたような、心がふっとほどけるような感覚に包まれます。
この部屋のテーマは、「浮世の悩みから完全に解き放たれる場所」。それぞれ異なる表現手法を持つ二人の作家が、互いの感性を尊重しながら、ひとつの理想郷を創り上げました。
中内渚は、平安時代から人々に愛されてきた八重桜に着目し、「桜の枝ぶりに宿る生命力を描きたかった」と語ります。自然の枝の流れを忠実に再現するため、何度もスケッチを重ね、一本一本の線に想いを込めました。
一方、川上和歌子は、布を用いたインスタレーションで知られ、近年は“巨大インコ”の世界を展開しています。「インコたちが自由に遊ぶ姿に、日常からの解放を重ねた」と話し、部屋のあらゆる場所にインコの立体作品を配置。まるで本当にそこに生きているかのような存在感を放っています。
桜の絵とインコの立体が仲良く共存する、まるで理想郷のような客室には、日本の伝統的な美意識である花鳥のパワーがみなぎっています。訪れる人がこの世界観に身を委ね、今ある幸せにそっと思いを巡らせる——そんなひとときをお届けできることを願っています。
◆作家プロフィール◆
中内渚（なかうち なぎさ）
古書に描く画家。幼少期をアルゼンチンで育ち、異国世界の魅力に開眼。
諸外国での旅を通し独学でスケッチを学ぶ。現在も世界を旅し、心動くもののみをアートにしたため制作を続けている。東京外国語大学スペイン語学科卒業。
パラグアイでの個展を皮切りに、新宿伊勢丹本店アートギャラリー、在日スペイン大使館、Ivy Brown Gallery（ニューヨーク）、LOEWE銀座本店などにて個展を開催。
川上和歌子（かわかみ わかこ）
1969年大阪府生まれ、東京都在住1992年武蔵野美術大学短期大学部専攻修了。1995年より夥しい数の『ひとがた』、自身を模した人形、タンポポなど、布を用いたインスタレーションを発表。日々ひとりで制作。近年は、作家等身大ある巨大インコが集う世界を展開。第2回岡本太郎現代芸術賞入選。近年の主な展覧会に、個展「ピコとピータ」2024/@btf/東京、「施美時間 インコの遠足」2019/鶴林寺/兵庫、「六甲ミーツ・アート芸術散歩2018」兵庫、「アートラインかしわ2018 Smiling」千葉、個展「冬の祝祭」2015/ パークホテル東京25F/東京など。

Park Hotel Tokyo Unveils Its 50th Artist Room “Utopia in Japan”
-Utopian world of cherry blossoms and parakeets, Free from the worries of everyday life-
Park Hotel Tokyo (Operated by Shiba Park Hotel Co., Ltd., Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Rentaro Yanase) is pleased to announce the launch the 50th of the hotel’s unique “Artist Room” where artists paint directly on the walls of the guest rooms, “Utopia in Japan,” from, October 21, 2025.
The 50th Artist Room, “Utopia in Japan,” is the first collaboration between painter Nagisa Nakauchi and sculptor Wakako Kawakami. The moment the door opens, guests see beautiful Yae-sakura (eight-fold cherry blossoms) in full bloom reaching up to the ceiling, and parakeets flying freely around the room. It feels as if the gentle spring sky surrounds the space, bringing a calm and peaceful feeling to the heart.

The theme of this room is “a place to completely escape from the worries of everyday life.” Two artists, each with their own unique expressive techniques, have created an ideal utopia together, respecting each other’s sensibilities.
Nagisa Nakauchi focused on yae-zakura (eight-fold cherry blossoms), which have been loved by people in Japan since the Heian period (794–1185).
She says, “I wanted to express the vitality that lives within the natural flow of the cherry branches.” To faithfully capture the shape of each branch, she made many sketches, putting her feelings into every single line.
On the other hand, Wakako Kawakami, known for her fabric installations, has in recent years created a world of “giant parakeets.” She explains, “In the way the parakeets play freely, I saw a reflection of freedom from everyday life.” Her three-dimensional parakeet works are placed throughout the room, each giving a lifelike presence—as if the birds were truly living there.
In this guest room, where cherry blossom paintings and three-dimensional parakeets coexist harmoniously, the power of “flowers and birds”—a traditional Japanese aesthetic—fills the space. It is our hope that guests will surrender themselves to this world, take a quiet moment to reflect on the happiness that already exists in their lives, and feel a gentle sense of peace.

Nagisa Nakauchi
A painter who draws on old books. She spent her early childhood in Argentina, where she developed a fascination with foreign cultures and landscapes.
Through her travels to various countries, she taught herself sketching. She continues to travel the world and creates art only from things that move her heart.
Graduated from the Department of Spanish, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. Starting with a solo exhibition in Paraguay, she has held solo exhibitions at Isetan Shinjuku Main Store Art Gallery, the Embassy of Spain in Japan, Ivy Brown Gallery (New York), LOEWE Ginza Main Store.
Wakako Kawakami
Born in Osaka, currently lives in Tokyo
Completed the Post-Graduate Course (Fine Arts) of Musashino Art University, Junior College of Art and Design, Department of Fine Arts in 1992. She began presenting her own exhibitions in 1995. Since then, She has made a name for herself with numerous large-scale fabric installations, including human figures (“Hitogata”), life-sized dolls modeled after herself, and dandelion motifs. She works alone in her studio and continues to create prolifically every day. In recent years, her signature projects have featured immersive environments inhabited by flocks of life-sized budgerigars (parakeets). Selected for the 2nd Taro Okamoto Award for Contemporary Art. Recent major exhibitions include the solo exhibition “Pico and Peeta” (2024 / @btf / Tokyo), “Semijikan – Parakeets’ Excursion” (2019 / Kakurin Temple / Hyogo), “Rokko Meets Art 2018” (Hyogo), “Art Line Kashiwa 2018 – Smiling” (Chiba), and the solo exhibition “Winter Festival” (2015 / Park Hotel Tokyo 25F / Tokyo).
